چکیده

——————————————————————————————————————— Abstract We investigate the single-impurity Anderson model by means of the recently introduced modified perturbation theory. This approximation scheme yields reasonable results away from the symmetric case. The agreement with exactly known results for the symmetric case is checked, and results for the non-symmetric case are presented. With decreasing conduction band occupation, the breakdown of the screening of the local moment is observed. In the crossover regime between Kondo limit and mixed-valence regime, an enhanced zero-temperature susceptibility is found.

Single-particle dynamics of the Anderson model: a local moment approach

A non-perturbative local moment approach to single-particle dynamics of the general asymmetric Anderson impurity model is developed. The approach encompasses all energy scales and interaction strengths. It captures thereby strong coupling Kondo behaviour, including the resultant universal scaling behaviour of the single-particle spectrum; as well as the mixed valent and essentially perturbative...

Iterative Perturbation Theory for Strongly Correlated Electron Systems with Orbital Degeneracy

A new scheme of the iterative perturbation theory is proposed for the strongly correlated electron systems with orbital degeneracy. The method is based on the modified self-energy of Yeyati, et al. which interpolates between the weak and the strong correlation limits, but a much simpler scheme is proposed which is useful in the case of the strong correlation with orbital degeneracy. It will be ...

Dynamics and Transport Properties of Heavy Fermions: Theory

The paramagnetic phase of heavy fermion systems is investigated, using a non-perturbative local moment approach to the asymmetric periodic Anderson model within the framework of dynamical mean field theory. The natural focus is on the strong coupling Kondo-lattice regime wherein single-particle spectra, scattering rates, d.c. transport and optics are found to exhibit (ω/ω L , T /ω L) scaling in...

Magnetic impurities in gapless Fermi systems: perturbation theory

We consider a symmetric Anderson impurity model with a soft-gap hybridization vanishing at the Fermi level, ∆I ∝ |ω|r with r > 0. Three facets of the problem are examined. First the non-interacting limit, which despite its simplicity contains much physics relevant to the U > 0 case: it exhibits both strong coupling (SC) states (for r < 1) and local moment states (for r > 1), with characteristic...

Local quantum phase transition in the pseudogap Anderson model: scales, scaling and quantum critical dynamics

The pseudogap Anderson impurity model provides a paradigm for understanding local quantum phase transitions, in this case between generalised fermi liquid and degenerate local moment phases. Here we develop a non-perturbative local moment approach to the generic asymmetric model, encompassing all energy scales and interaction strengths and leading thereby to a rich description of the problem. W...
